Listing Newer Movies at the top. 2 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,
First, thank you for a wonderful componet! After reading the tutoral, I'm still not sure how get a certain Genre or newer movies listed first. It says to make it the same name as the database? Not usre what that means.
Perferably, I would like to list newest movies first if that is possible. If not, I would like it to start with Sci-Fi. Also, any change future realease will be able to play the trailer without leaving our website? Thanks for your help!

Hi there, thanks for the compliment.

You can get a specific movie genre and movie to be the default by using the component parameters. Go to the JoomFlix Control Panel (the page with all of the colorful icons and the 'Thank you for using JoomFlix' banner).

The parameters option is in the upper right portion of that screen. The default movie genre is 'Comedy' and the default movie is 'Fargo'. You can change that to whatever genre and movie you like. Make sure the genre and movie names are exact matches.

The genres listed in the jom_jf_genre_main table are:
Action & Adventure, Children & Family, Classics, Comedy, Drama, Gay & Lesbian, Horror, Independent, Romance, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Thrillers, Anime & Animation, Documentary, Faith & Spirituality, Sports & Fitness, Television, Special Interest, Music & Musicals, Blu-ray, Foreign.

Hi Royce,

I tried to make it work using different movie genres with no luck. For instance I tried "Avatar" with Action and then again with Sci-Fi & Fantasy and neither work. I also tried some others and after saving I go back an refresh my browser and it still shows Fargo at the top. Could it be it's not making changes to the database or a perhaps a permission problem? Thanks for your help.

Ok, you may also have to specify the genre/movie via the menu item parameters. Try that and let me know if it works!
