Hi - very sad to see that old forum go... btw the link at the top of the page still needs some switchin' - if you have access to the database i may be able to help you, i've been known to salvage some stuff over the years... at the very least get the data if not clean threads and archive that....

Anyhow.... my question is whether you know how to search both the TV shows, movies, and amazon retail listings at once...

we bought the pro version and are very pleased to begin work with it... any thoughts on where to begin this work greatly apreciate.. I'll follow this thread and any thoughts re: this or re:your old forum (especially if you think there might be a solution in there)

Hi there, thanks for your empathy! I was in the process of upgrading the forum to the latest version. I was very skeptical that it would go well, and my skepticism was justified! Oh well, it was kind of clunky and I'm not sure how much better the new version would have been. You can probably tell, I don't spend a lot of time managing this forum - it has fairly low volume. Hopefully that is because the software has very few bugs!

Ok, your search. The professional version has the search plug in that works in conjunction with the standard Joomla! search function. A search will return the movies, tv shows, etc. Let me know if you have any problems with it.

I'm definitely looking at doing some custom work with this, we purchased your component because it's the best starting point for working with the IVA of any component for any cms anywhere that we've seen (read: kudos) - i'm trying to figure where to begin to build from your work. (fwiw i'm working with chaoslimited who actually made the purchase)

I just finished unzipping and checking the code in the plugin - it is going through the local database... what i'm aiming to do is submit to the iva, amazon, and perhaps hulu or some such at the same time... i've got the code for multiple submits, however i really like your layout and am trying to incorporate that ...

anyhow, this is a bit longwinded and beyond the call... so if you want to point me generally in the right direction that's great, i rate it a great product anyhow

Hey there, what you are trying to do sounds pretty cool. That was probably my long term intent back when I wrote the plug-in a year ago!

I actually started writing JoomFlix using the "hello world" sample application in order to learn the J! 1.5 API. It just grew from there. I haven't added much functionality as I've pretty much moved on to other projects. To be honest, I barely remember how lots of it works and I'm kind of amazed I was able to pull it all off!

It should be pretty simple to add your code for multiple submits to the plug-in. You should be able to replace that simple database query with a call to your code that does the multiple submits. The movie component was the 1st one I wrote, and I made a lot of structural changes in the other functions (books, music, games). In those search plugins, I made the code a lot cleaner by moving that database call to a 'model' but the basic structure is the same.

right on - yeah i'm getting in to it... i'm no expert in xmlhttprequest... or the javascript libraries in general.... if this is something you consider yourself adept with there's money involved... you have my email, and of course i'm following the thread Thank you again
