Jesus Es Prosperidad 1 & 2 Group

Sector : Manufacturing
Country : Dominican Republic
Town : Santiago
Loan Amount : $3,200
Berenice, 29, is a borrower who lives in Santiago, Dominican Republic. She is the coordinator for her group, Jesus es Prosperidad (Jesus is Prosperity), and her story is representative of those in her group and other Dominican and Haitian borrowers at Esperanza International. Berenice and her husband have two children and live in a simple home in Santiago, the second largest city in the Dominican Republic. Urban areas of the Dominican Republic are very overcrowded and can be rough, with no potable running water, frequent power outages (if one has power to begin with), and inadequate healthcare. Despite these difficulties, Berenice runs a small blacksmith’s business. With this loan, she plans on purchasing more materials for her business, specifically welding rods and other metalworking supplies. This is Berenice’s fifth loan from Esperanza International, and she hopes to continue taking out loans to grow her business and improve the home life of her family. With the profits, she hopes to purchase a computer for herself and her children. Computers are one of the best investments for a low-income household, especially the children, as they teach desperately needed technological knowledge. Berenice hopes that continued business will help her reach her dreams for her business and provide a good education for her children. Esperanza International seeks to free children and their families through initiatives that generate income, education and health, restoring self-worth and dignity to those who have lost hope. We have over 8,500 active associates in eleven offices in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Thank you for lending to Berenice and the Jesus es Prosperidad group!
